What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid?
Diesel Exhaust Fluid(DEF) which is commonly known as AdBlue is a harmless synthetically manufactured solution that is used as a reducing agent with the SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) technology to reduce harmful emissions in heavy goods vehicles with Euro 4, Euro 5 and Euro 6 diesel engines. Over the recent years, the number of users of the AdBlue product based on SCR technology is constantly increasing – heavy goods vehicles, trucks, buses, light commercial vehicles, passenger cars, agricultural and construction machinery, ships, industrial plants, etc.
DEF- AdBlue is a non-toxic and environmentally friendly product which is, according to the level of risk to the aquatic environment, classified as the lowest risk level (Class 1 in Germany). According to its chemical composition, DEF-AdBlue is a 32.5% high purity urea solution with a constant level of quality, as per the DIN 70070 and ISO 22241 standards in the demineralized water.
The constant quality of the AdBlue product can be secured only if it is produced from high purity urea, and subsequently stored and manipulated in accordance with the instructions of CEFIC. The basic prerequisite for the assurance of top quality is an effective Quality Management (QM) system, in accordance with the ISO 9000 standards.
